Wahlen sind der Ausdruck von gelebter Demokratie, aktiver partizipativer Interessenvertretung, die für die erfolgreich gewählten Personen in teilweise konfliktären Aushandlungsprozesse in einer zunehmend diverseren (Vorstands-) Welten münden können.

Bei ICF-Wahlen stehen darüber hinaus die Verwirklichung der Kernwerte der ICF „Professionalität, Zusammenarbeit, Menschlichkeit und Gerechtigkeit“ im Vordergrund. So finden alle Jahre wieder die im Oktober 2023 stattgefundenen Wahlen für den Vorstand von ICF Germany Charter Chapter e.V. (gemäß unserer Satzung) und auch die Wahlen für das ICF Global Board der Professional Coaches im November 2023 statt.

Gemäß dem Fact Sheet vom September 2023 vertritt ICF mehr als 50 000 Mitglieder in 141 Chaptern und mehr als 99 Ländern. Aktuell leben 50 % der Mitglieder in Nordamerika und 23 % der Mitglieder in Westeuropa und das restliche gute Viertel der Mitgliedschaft in Osteuropa, Asien, Afrika und Ozeanien. Es ist davon auszugehen, dass die ICF-Mitglieder in den unterschiedlichen Regionen dieser Erde mit verschiedenen kulturellen Prägungen und Sprachen sehr vielschichtige Interessenlagen haben und im Board von ICF Professional Board of Directors verwirklicht sehen wollen.

Die Wahl “Professional Coaches Board of Directors” 2023

ICF Global hat auch in diesem Jahr wieder aufgerufen, sich bis Mitte August 2023 für das ICF Global Board der Professional Coaches zu bewerben. Nach strukturierten Interviews mit den Bewerber/innen hat ein Nominierungs-Komitee die Auswahl der Bewerber/innen vorgenommen. Als Mitglieder begegnen wird diesen Bewerber/innen dann erstmals auf dem Wahlzettel, der uns in Form einer E-Mail bekannt gemacht wird.

Obwohl ICF Germany Charter Chapter in den Jahren 2019, 2020, 2021 und 2022 von ICF Global mit dem Chapter Recognition Award geehrt wurde, haben es bislang die bisherigen Bewerber/innen der letzten Jahre aus Deutschland nicht bis auf den Wahlzettel des ICF Global Professional Board geschafft (Stand: 03.10.2023). Aktuell vertritt uns einzig und allein Jürgen Bache als Mitglied des Independent Review Board auf ICF globaler Ebene.

Aktuelle Rolle von ICF Germany

Da ICF Germany nicht im Professional Coaches Board of Directors vertreten ist, ist es uns bislang nicht möglich, aktuelle Fragen zur Coaching-Profession, die uns innerhalb von ICF Germany bewegen, in diesem Board der Professional Coaches eingehend zu besprechen. Ich erinnere nur an die jüngsten Diskussionen um das Thema der Übersetzung des neuen Credentialing Exams, das die nicht-muttersprachlich-englischen Coaches in ihrer Professionalisierung und ICF-Zertifizierung offenkundig ungleich behandelt. Und ich vermag nicht abzuschätzen, wie hoch die Hürde dieses neuen Credentialing Exams für nicht-muttersprachlich-englische Coaches aus den unterschiedlichen Regionen dieser Welt ist, deren eigene Mutter-Sprache/n nicht (als mouse-over) angeboten wird und die somit in ihrer Zertifizierung durch die Sprachbarriere behindert sind.

Mein persönlicher Wahl-O-Mat

Wie geht es Dir, wenn Dir ICF Global alle Jahre wieder in einer Mail eine Liste mit Namen von Personen zugeschickt, verbunden mit der Bitte, bis zu einem bestimmten Termin abzustimmen und einem Link zu einer Website, um dort Deine Stimmen abzugeben?

Wenn ich diese Liste per Mail erhalte (und bevor ich abstimme), frage ich mich:

1. Wie gut kenne ich die Coach-Kolleg/innen, die auf dieser Liste stehen?
2. Habe ich eine oder mehrere dieser Kolleg/innen bereits auf einer Konferenz, in einem Webinar, durch Veröffentlichungen oder LinkedIn-Posts kennengelernt? Und wenn ich feststelle, dass ich bislang noch keinen Kontakt zu dieser Kolleg/in hatte, dann werde ich mich entsprechend durch Quellen informieren, die mir öffentlich zugänglich sind. Möglicherweise nehme ich sogar persönlich Kontakt auf, um diese Kolleg/in besser kennenzulernen.
3. Welchen persönlichen (und natürlich subjektiven) Eindruck habe ich (dadurch) von dieser/diesen Kolleg/innen bekommen?
4. Vertraue ich dieser Kolleg/in, die Interessen von mehr als 50 000 engagierten ICF Mitgliedern weltweit fach- und sachgerecht zu vertreten?
5. Wie wird sich diese Kolleg/in für die Kernwerte der ICF „Professionalität, Zusammenarbeit, Menschlichkeit und Gerechtigkeit“ einsetzen, um für die mehr als 50 000 ICF Mitglieder weltweit ein starkes zielorientiertes und wertschätzendes Zusammengehörigkeitsgefühl (=belonging) innerhalb der ICF zu vermitteln?
6. Wie wird diese Kolleg/in einen wirklich inklusiven Dialog über die Zukunft unserer Profession co-creativ gestalten und fördern, in dem alle ICF Mitglieder direkt und die ICF Chapter Boards als gewählte Repräsentanten die Möglichkeit haben, sich einzubringen und gehört zu werden?

Wie gehst Du in Deiner Wahlentscheidung für die Coaches auf der Wahlliste für das ICF Professional Coaches Board of Directors vor? Welche Strategien hast Du Dir zurechtgelegt?

According to the September 2023 fact sheet, ICF represents more than 50,000 members in 141 chapters and more than 99 countries. Currently 50 % of the members live in North America and 23 % of the members in Western Europe and the remaining good quarter of the membership in Eastern Europe, Asia, Africa and Oceania. It can be assumed that the ICF members in different regions of the world with different cultural backgrounds and languages have very complex interests and want to see them realized in the ICF Professional Board of Directors.

The election “Professional Coaches Board of Directors” 2023

ICF Global has once again called for applications for the ICF Global Board of Professional Coaches by mid-August 2023. After structured interviews with the applicants, a nomination committee selected the applicants. These applicants will then be encountered as members for the first time on the ballot paper, which will be communicated to us in the form of an email.

Although ICF Germany Charter Chapter was honored with the Chapter Recognition Award by ICF Global in 2019, 2020, 2021 and 2022, the previous applicants from Germany have so far in recent years did not make it onto the ballot paper of the ICF Global Professional Board (as of October 3rd, 2023). Currently, only Jürgen Bache represents us as a member of the Independent Review Board at the ICF global level.

Current role of ICF Germany

Since ICF Germany is not represented on the Professional Coaches Board of Directors, it is not yet possible for us to discuss current questions about the coaching profession that concern us within ICF Germany in detail on this Board of Professional Coaches. I just remind you of the recent discussions about the issue of translating the new credentialing exam, which obviously treats non-native English coaches unequally in their professionalization and ICF certification. And I cannot estimate how high the hurdle of this new credentialing exam is for non-native English coaches from different regions of the world whose own native language(s) is not offered (as a mouse-over) and who are therefore in their Certification is hindered by the language barrier.

How do you feel when ICF Global sends you an email every year with a list of names of people, a request to vote by a certain date and a link to a website where you can cast your votes?

When I receive this list by email (and before I vote), I ask myself:

1. How well do I know the coach colleagues who are on this list?
2. Have I already met one or more of these colleagues at a conference, in a webinar, through publications or LinkedIn posts? And if I find that I have not yet had any contact with this colleague, then I will inform myself accordingly from sources that are publicly available to me. I may even contact you personally to get to know this colleague better.
3. What personal (and of course subjective) impression did I get from this colleague?
4. Do I trust this colleague to professionally and appropriately represent the interests of more than 50,000 committed ICF members worldwide?
5. How will this colleague advocate for the ICF's core values of “professionalism, cooperation, humanity and justice” in order to convey a strong, goal-oriented and appreciative sense of belonging within the ICF to the more than 50,000 ICF members worldwide ?
6. How will this colleague co-creatively design and promote a truly inclusive dialogue about the future of our profession, in which all ICF members directly and the ICF chapter boards as elected representatives have the opportunity to contribute and be heard?
